My Father, My Hero

R.N.Jayagopal - Kannada Film Legend

Legendary Kannada film writer and director R.N. Jayagopal – my beloved father – passed away on May 19th, 2008 in Chennai.

He was 72 years old.

He was perfectly healthy – until two months ago. He went from being 100% to 0% – all in a matter of two months.

Dad: All I wanted was to be able to spend some time with you. And talk to you – a lot!

Hopefully we can do that someday – when I see you in heaven.

Until then, have peace knowing that there simply couldn’t have been a greater father than you.

Dad, I will always love you. And I will always miss you. You simply were the very best!

Hey Ravi,

That’s a touching tribute.

I am sure your dad was proud of you (and still is, as he watches from up there) of the way you’re leading your life.

Your brilliant products, your always-surprising blog, your bursting-with-value twitter posts, and throught it all, your mindblowing support provided directly by yourself with the efficiency that one normally expects from a crack team of 50 support personnel…what can I say except, the way you conduct your life reminds me Rudyard Kipling’s poem…

“If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And – which is more – you’ll be a Man my son!”

Sandeep,

Thank you so much for your very kind words, and that beautiful snippet.

Unfortunately, I never did much to make my father proud during his living years. But I’m hoping that someday I will have accomplished things that both he and I would be proud of.
