I’m A Hunter

February 3, 2010

Oh, I’m very much a Hunter!
But being a Gemini, I do have a kind of split-personality. So, occasionally I chill out and become a “Farmer”. Not for too long though

Free 7FigureCode Videos

December 15, 2009

I almost purchased this product when it was originally launched at $997 (I think). But I’m glad I didn’t back then, because now I got it for free.
Well, almost free. Paid $15.95 S&H.
But I think this is a great strategy though.
Charge enough for Shipping & Handling to cover the cost of your shipping and your [...]

What Would – - – - – Do?

September 21, 2009

I believe it is critically important to have role models, teachers, mentors, gurus, leaders, spiritual guides – from whom we can draw courage, inspiration, enlightenment, guidance – in times of need at various stages of our life.
So here’s a short list of my role models, who have all tremendously inspired me, taught me, and given [...]

The Power Of A Brand (Revisited)

September 9, 2009

Did you know that the incredibly famous Nike “Swoosh” logo was created by a graphic design student desperate to pay for a dress for an upcoming party, for a stunning total of $35 (at $2/hour)?
I watched a Nike documentary recently, where they interviewed  Philip Knight (one of Nike’s Founders), “His Airness” Michael Jordan, and the [...]

“Simple” and “Easy”

June 4, 2009

The difference is pretty simple, actually
Quit Smoking
Simple: We all know the health benefits of not smoking. Quit smoking, live longer.
But Not Easy: The actual act of quitting is really hard.
Losing Weight
Simple: Do it and you will look good, feel good, and have more energy
But Not Easy: Working out frequently, cutting down on your [...]

YouTube records more searches than Yahoo!

January 21, 2009

Last week, I searched YouTube (not Google) for how to “change wiper blades“, and watching a couple of the videos helped me change the wiper blades on my car in under 2 minutes (something I had been putting off for almost a year!)
Here is an interesting article about the shift in the way people are [...]

Yet another incredible presentation from Seth Godin.
I can’t seem to get enough of what he talks about…

My Date With Seth Godin

October 7, 2008

Ok, I was being dramatic. Plus I’m straight (and I think Seth is too).
Last evening, I was fortunate to be a part of a private group that participated in Seth presentation for his new book, “Tribes” .
The presentation was “remarkable!”, as Seth would’ve said himself.
Filled with extraordinary images, and almost no text, Seth [...]

Garr Reynolds and Presentation Zen

September 28, 2008

Uncanny!
I got “Presentation Zen” delivered in the mail last night from Amazon.
And someone tweeted this Garr Reynolds video of “Authors at Google”…

Purple Shoe from Nike

January 9, 2008

It’s not really purple in color. But I did mean that it is Purple.
Why?
It’s because of the way it was successful in creating an entirely new industry of “athlete marketing” like never before. Because of how it created a frenzy among consumers. Because of the innovative ways Nike marketed it [for instance, they paid [...]

Amazon Kindle: Not kindling my passion for, er, anything

December 12, 2007

The folks who buy a new product when it first comes out, are commonly known as the early adopters.
These people – who are not the same as the “beta testers” – actually spend money to buy the product.
They risk the annoyances, technical and usability issues of First-Generation products in exchange for the “Wow” factor [...]

How To Sell A $3,200 Product Using Free YouTube Videos

December 3, 2007

If you’ve ever wondered about the power of influence that videos – even free ones – can have in selling commercial products, look no further.
Recently, I was on the receiving end of this power, as I shelled out about $3,200 to buy a Yamaha Motif Keyboard – thanks(!) to two powerful videos on YouTube.
I’ve chronicled [...]

What Happens When You Care About Your Customers

September 7, 2007

The iPhone launched at $599 (8GB) and $499 (4GB).
About two months later, Apple deprecates the latter, and slashes $200 off the former.
The early adopters get mad.
Should Apple care? They didn’t have to. But they did (Steve Jobs letter).
Great strategy (in-store credit). Great PR. Gotta love Apple.

Something Strange, In The Neighborhood. Who You Gonna Call? Bond, Bourne or Bauer?

August 16, 2007

James Bond
Jason Bourne
Jack Bauer

Think it’s a coincidence that these three super crime-fighting-machines share the same initials? I think not.
Bourne was bourne as America’s answer to the ultimate killing machine and British super spy who is the only one (other than God) who can save the Queen: James Bond.
Last night, I watched “The Bourne Ultimatum”. Last [...]

You, Me and Mona Lisa

August 7, 2007

Creating an e-business…

Learning a new skill…

Being the best at what you do…

Building something worth building…

Creating something worth creating…

Saying something worth saying…

Doing something worth doing…

All of these take plenty of time – and effort.
It is very easy to just look at the end-result of other people’s successes, ogle at their fortunes, and forget (or [...]

Citizen Marketing

August 6, 2007

The sad thing is that along with the “Citizen Marketers” come the “Citizen Abusers”.
Any form of user(citizen)-powered marketing will always eventually be subject to abuse, and then the distinct line between a legitimate “volunteer” citizen and a “paid” citizen suddenly becomes very thin. Point in case: Digg.com, BzzAgent.com or a PayPerPost.com.
As time goes by [...]
