So I wore a LeBron James jersey to the movies yesterday. Why? Cuz I wanted to show LBJ – and my team – some PDA.

Nobody paid me to do that.

Oh, and LBJ is getting paid tens of millions of dollars a year to play basketball, so it’s not like he’s doing it for free, or only for the love of the game.

You don’t have to endlessly keep giving away free stuff in order to build a legion of fans.

You just have to be dog-dang good at what you do, you have to be interesting, you have to have personality, you have to be entertaining, and yes, you have to provide a LOT of value. Just doesn’t have to be all free. We spend a couple of grand a year as LBJ super-fans.

It ain’t enough to just build an audience. An AUDIENCE can probably make you a living, but FANS will make you rich, and SUPER-FANS – lots of ’em – are what can make you truly wealthy.
