Have Time vs. Make Time

4/11/2020 By Ravi Jayagopal

I HAVE time for everything I WANT (family, NBA). But I literally have to MAKE time for what I NEED (exercise, self-development, sleep, meditation). Same with money - we all HAVE money for what we WANT (shopping, Netflix and 12 other streaming services, fancy coffee) but won't always MAKE money for what we NEED (paying to promote our products, coaching, learning, tools, execution help). ..#priorities #focus #blinders #impatienceIsAlsoAVirtue #focus #determination #ebusiness #onlinemarketing #podcaster #entrepreneur #entrepreneurlife #hustle #sidehustle #patience #simplebutnoteasy #lifecomesatyoufast #digitalmarketing #digitalmarketer #beastmode #motivation #onelifetolive

A Pocketful of Sunshine

4/29/2017 By Ravi Jayagopal

Wish I could be like him. This photo always lifts up my spirits and the awesome song "I've got a pocketful of sunshine" (Natasha Bedingfield) starts playing in my head. And my mood is instantly elevated. He is a male dog named Vanilla (don't ask) - the world's happiest, kindest, sweetest, gentlest, shyest, most loving being. And all he wants is a tiny strip of sunshine from any window in the house, a little food & water, and an evening walk or run. Never imagined there could be a living thing that had such low expectations, and such a high level of happiness with whatever little he has. Never complains. Always happy. Always grateful. I'm not there, but I try, every day, to be grateful for what I have been blessed with. #grateful #blessed #mybestfriend #happyforlife #grateful #lowexpectations #begratefulforwhatyouhave #natashabedingfield #pocketfullofsunshine

I am Dapperman

4/17/2017 By Ravi Jayagopal

It's 2009: I still have a day job. I am like Clark Kent. I slog away quietly at my day job during the day. My cubicle must be made of Kryptonite - saps me of my life energy by noon.I take the subway to get to NY Grand Central. Then Metro to get home each night. The further away I get from work, the stronger I seem to get - the effects of the Kryptonite Cubicle wearing off. I get home and give my father-in-law a huge hug and a kiss on his cheeks. My children run into my arms, and my flabby belly starts tightening into a 6-pack. They eat and get ready for bed, and I can feel my tshirt splitting at the seams. By the time my beloved gets home and we have a long chat about the day, I watch her eat a piece of cookie for dessert, and catch the last few minutes of a Cavs game, I am totally shredded!I walk down the stairs at 10 PM to my basement office. My mind is whirring like Clark Kent in a telephone booth. By the time I reach the bottom of the stairs, I am Superman! As the clock hit 1 AM, I suddenly hear the voice of my mother calling me back inside the house. She's telling me to stop playing cricket with my friends, to come back in and do my homework. "Right now", she says! That snaps me out of a euphoric few hours of working on my side business. It's a membership plugin for WordPress called DAP. Not many know about it yet.How I hate having to stop working on my site, my blog, newsletter, PHP code – all just so I can get just enough sleep to get through another day at my job.Did you feel all of that? Then congratulations, you are an incurable entrepreneur! That's what it feels like when you’ve found your true calling. Your passion. Your purpose. I was Superman. Every single day. 7 PM – 7 AM. Weekdays. It is now 2017. And I'm better than Superman. I am DAPperman. You know, because of DAP... aka DigitalAccessPass.com.Superman. Wonderwoman. You can be whatever it is that you want to be. Just don't let YOU hold you back. #superman #wonderwoman #dap #digitalaccesspass #onelifetolive #entrepreneur #sidehustle #gogetem #youcandoit #purpose #passion #thepursuitofhappiness #unemployable

Flash-back to 2009: I still have a day job. I am like Clark Kent. I slog away at my job – a highly paid one – during the day. Feels like my cubicle is made of Kryptonite – saps me of my life energy. I take the New York city subway to get to Grand Central station. Then a Metro train to get home each night.

The further away I get from work, the stronger I seem to get – must be the effects of the Kryptonic Cubicle wearing off. I give my father-in-law a huge hug and a kiss on his cheeks. My children run into my arms, and my flabby belly starts tightening into a 6-pack. They eat and get ready for bed, and I can feel my tshirt splitting at the seams. By the time my beloved gets home and we have a long chat about the day, I watch her eat a piece of cookie for dessert, and catch the last few minutes of a Cavs game, I am totally shredded!

By the time I walk down the stairs at 10 PM to my basement office, my mind is whirring like Clark Kent in a constricted telephone booth. By the time I reach the bottom of the stairs, I am Superman. I am finally Invincible. Untouchable, Unbeatable, Undeniable. I am the King of the World!

As the clock hit 1 AM, I suddenly hear the voice of my mother calling me back inside the house. She’s telling me to stop playing cricket with my friends, to come back in and do my homework. “Right now”, she says! My mother’s voice snaps me out of a euphoric few hours of working on my side business. It’s a membership plugin for WordPress called DAP. Not many know about it yet.

Oh, how I hated having to stop playing cricket, only to go inside to do my homework! I feel the same way at the thought of having to stop working on my site, on my blog, my newsletter, on my PHP code – only to go to bed so that I can get just enough sleep to get through another day at my job. Ughh!

If you can imagine how that felt, then congratulations! You are an incurable entrepreneur. This is what it feels like when you’ve found your true calling. Your passion. Your purpose.

You feel like you’re Superman. Or Wonder Woman. Which is coming out shortly, by the way.

It’s 2009. I am Superman. Every single day. 7 PM – 7 AM.

It is now 2017. And I’m better than Superman.

I am DAPperman.

You know… because of DAP… aka DigitalAccessPass.com.

Superman. Wonder Woman. You can be whatever it is that you want to be. Just don’t let YOU hold you back.

12,412 miles

4/6/2017 By Ravi Jayagopal

It's not even the awesome 78 deg. weather. It is the 12,412 miles... in 7 years!

It’s not even the awesome 78 deg. weather.

It is the 12,412 miles… in 7 years!

< 5 miles per day, basically picking up the kids after school… with the top down!

I Am Dapperman

11/22/2014 By Ravi Jayagopal

FINAL

Here’s an old blog post that I wrote in March, 2006.

I had a job back then. The passion I had back then inspires me when I read it myself.

It was that passion that eventually led to the creation of Digital Access Pass.

If you still have a job, hope you get inspired at least a wee bit :-).

I Am Superman

Remember Daredevil? He is the blind, avenging lawyer who fights the bad guys in the court of law during the day, and bashes them up on the streets at night.

I am kinda like that.

More like Clark Kent, actually – I slog away quietly at my day job during the day. It’s like being in a Kryptonite cubicle.

I come back home at night, and my strength starts to return as my children run into my arms, my 6-pack abs return, my muscles start tightening up, my underwear and my pants interchange positions ;-), and my tee starts splitting at the seams as the night gets older.

And when I finally sit down at my computer after putting my kids to bed, and hit the “Ctrl-M” button (‘check mail’) in my Eudora client, I’m invincible! I’m untouchable, I’m unbeatable! I’m the King of the World!

As the clock hits 1 AM, I suddenly hear the voice of my mother calling me back inside the house on a nice sunny afternoon, asking me to stop playing cricket with my friends, to come back in and do my homework; “Right now”, she says!

Oh, how I hated having to stop playing – only to go inside to do homework! Ugh!

I feel the same way at the thought of having to stop working on my site, on my blog, on my newsletter, on my scripts – only to go back to bed so that I get just enough sleep to get through another day of “work”. Ugh!

Now you know what it feels like when you’ve found your niche – you feel like you’re Superman!

I am Superman. Every single day. 7 PM – 7 AM.

Go on, it’s now your turn to be not just Superman – it’s your turn to be whatever it is that you want to be.

Here’s the original post.
